Beccy's Place May 2024 Blog Challenge

Beccy's May Blog challenge is very interesting this month with the optional twist of Flip-a-Coin. Here is the challenge.

The flip of my coin gave me the following:  Flip 1 Square card; Flip 2 coloured cardstock; Flip 3 Use ribbon;  Flip 4 Die cut elements and Flip 5 Flowers. I have used the.freebie for May, the gorgeous sweetpeas.

Here is my design.

Beccy's Place March 2024 Blog Challenge

This month I followed the optional Bingo grid for my creation. I went with the diagonal - colour with pencils, use a digital stamp and make it monochrome.

I have used "Gerbera Set" but I forgot it is discontinued.  I know Beccy has to make room for her new stamps, but I am so glad I got this digital set before it went to the vault.

Beccy's Place February Blog Challenge

This month's challenge is challenging me to add washi tape to my creation.  I could not go past those beautiful silhouettes "Cat Tails" when I spent my prize from last month.  I love cats but the silhouettes have tails.  My cat Emmie doesn't have a tail.  She was a rescue kitten and they told me she had manx in her and she only has a little stumpy tail.  It looks like a rabbit's tail when she runs.  Anyhow enough of Emmie, here is my February Blog Challenge creation.

I have made an insert inside the card to make the front.  I hope you can see my paw washi tape.

Beccy's Place Blog Challenge

The Beccy's Place January Blog Challenge has started.  The optional theme is all about flowers and plants.

Here is my card using Simply Freesias which unfortunately is retired but you can definitely find something to purchase in the store if you look.  Beccy's Place stamps are addictive and if you check out the store you will find freebies.  Don't forgot Beccy's vast list of folds, they are great.

Beccy's Place Blog Challenge

This is my entry for Beccy's Place October Blog Challenge.  This month the optional twist is a colour theme.  I have used the free coloured sheet (thank you Beccy) and the "Little Donkey Set", which I see in the shop is retired.

I love this donkey and as it happens my daughter has got into donkeys on their property, and hopefully in a couple of weeks we will get up there.  I haven't seen any of them yet, but there is at last count 11.

Don't despair however, there are other great animal digital stamps to choose from.

Beccy's Place July Blog Challenge

This month's challenge has an optional twist - animals.  I did check with Google and birds are classed as animals, so I chose to work with Beccy's beautiful superb wrens.  They are coloured with pencils.

I have used the Superb Wren digital stamps along with the free gum blossoms which I coloured and the background is Flannel flowers (coloured version).  Flannel flowers are one of my most favourite native flowers, but alas I have not been that successful with them myself.  I had one that did last a couple of seasons and then just went and died on me.  Unfortunately I only had it in a pot and it didn't leave me any babies to carry out the beautiful display.

Beccy's Place March Blog Challenge

This month I decided to work with the March Challenge freebie.  My grand-daughter, Isla-May is celebrating her 7th birthday and this image was very fitting for her card, as she is still waiting for her two front teeth to come down.  They have both broke the surface so hopefully they won't be too long.  Her Mum surprised her with her very own pet yesterday - not that they don't have enough lol.  It is a black and white floppy-eared bunny who she called Thumper.  It is a little girl.

I have used a sentiment from Strawberry Patch, an old Beccy's Place set  and a coloured image of chocolate strawberries from last month's Beccy freebie. The coloured strawberries and Toothless are mounted with foam tape.

Beccy's Place October Blog Challenge

For this month's Blog Challenge I have made a birthday card for my brother in Tasmania.  We always buy some Lotto goodies to share when it is our birthdays.  So I will go out on the 25th and do that, but meanwhile this card is in the mail.

I have used Blooming Tools digital stamp set for this card and coloured the images with pencils.

Thanks for looking,

Gail xx

A card for our mechanic

Well you did it Mark - fell off your pushbike and now you are off your feet for three months.  Mark is a very keen road bike rider much to the dismay probably of many motorists.  Apparently a crack in the road sent him tumbling and has broken the pelvic bone that holds the ball bone in your hip.  I wanted to say so many things in the card so I decided to follow Beccy's Place August Blog Challenge which would give me a few areas for words.

My flip-a-coin challenge resulted in add stitching, gatefold card, digital stamp, add buttons and any occasion except birthday.

This was fun and I hope Mark enjoys this card.  He should get a smile out the lycra and landcruiser quotes.  Hope it doesn't hurt when he laughs, knowing Mark he will just grin!

I have used Beccy's freebies for this card - the coloured flannel flowers Beccy's Place: Flannel Flowers (beccysplace.blogspot.com) , the gumnut blossoms and the June freebie paper Beccy's Place: June Challenge (beccysplace.blogspot.com)

Mac's Birthday card

This is a special birthday card for my grandson, Mac.  It has arrived in the mail and my daughter is hanging onto it till Friday when he turns 11.  I do hope he likes it and the sentiments that came with the set are perfect to boost him at the moment.  It has been a tough year for Mac.  I am hoping he will keep it on display in his room to remind him to be happy even when he doesn't feel like it.

Thank you to Beccy for the W-fold tutorial.  It is probably the first time I have attempted one of the folds as soon as she showcases it.  Our Mac has always liked tortoises and turtles.  He even did a speech a couple of years ago at school on the differences between both.  He also loves scooters at the moment and is getting a new one for his birthday.

The Slow Lane digital stamp set - I have used varying sizes of the images both pre-coloured and my own colouring, and the sentiments.  I have used Kaisercraft Basecoat designer paper for the backgrounds.  The third photo is where I wrote our birthday sentiment to Mac and I even put a turtle on the envelope and guess what my daughter told me this morning it was still in tact when it arrived at her house.  We would love to see him for his first birthday without his Dad but lockdown is still on, so that is not possible at the moment.

Happy Birthday Mac, love you to the moon and back.

Beccy's Place Blog Challenge - July 2021

This is the card I made for the July challenge using the suggested colours - pink, brown and blue.  I have used Birdhouse with Vines which I coloured with the selected colours in pencil.  I added 2 of the coloured Fairy Wrens from Superb Fairy Wren available in the store.

Beccy's Place March 2021 Blog Challenge

I love Gerberas - don't seem to have much luck growing them as well as Beccy's images, but love colouring them.

I am still practising with my basic pencils, Staedtler, Faber-Castell and Crayola.  I just have them all together and grab whatever colours I think will suit.

I am not sure what this fold of card is actually called.  It is probably too simple for Beccy to have in her tutorials of card folds, but I would call it concertina.  Hang on, I will get you the link for her card fold tutorials and see if my design is there.  Here is the link Beccy's Place: A - Z of Folded Cards and after looking at her Concertina Fold, I stand to be corrected.  My fold is called the very, very simple concertina fold.

Anyhow I could not decide what sentiments I would use from the set, so I put a few on.  This stamp set is so versatile you could make an any occasion card.

If you like gerberas as much as me, you had better grab this set fast, as it's on special for a limited time and then I think it is going to be retired.  While you are in the shop, check out all the sale items.

I hope you like my very, very simple Concertina card.

See you next time,

Gail
