Fripperies and Butterflies

I have just discovered this challenge through my interest in Gecko Galz.  Fripperies and Butterflies has a monthly steampunk challenge.

With my journey using digital stamps, I have really come to like steampunk images and what a great way to decorate my Steampunk Journal I started last year.  Yes, it is not finished yet, but I guess you can all relate to unfinished creations.

The added bonus with this challenge is you get a freebie image to work with each month.  Here is my entry.

This is the first time I have used the technique I learnt at a Scrapmatts Retreat using black gesso and Prima Alchemy Metallic Wax Rose Gold.  The second part of the photo shows the pocket I am putting this project into in my journal.

Cute as a Button Designs

What a gorgeous image!  This is the Cute as a Button Progressive image this month.  I absolutely love it.  I decided to make an inspirational card with using Spring Daisies

I have used olive green SU cardstock for the square card, a piece of digital designer paper left over from another project.  I then stamped Whimsy Stamps Delightful Daisies on the designer paper with Olive Green Stazon ink.  The daisy foam mounted daisies I bought from Big W on clearance.  I wanted to use an inspirational sentiment to go with the little girl's look on her face.

I have posted this creation on MeWe Progressive Challenge for Cute as a Button Designs.

Bugaboo Stamps "Anything But A Card" inspiration

My "Anything but a Card" inspiration is a gift card bag, or better still it will fit a gift card and a small block of Cadbury's Furry Friends or Milk Chocolate.

I have used the current Friday Freebie "Violet Watering Can" available here until it changes on Friday.  At the moment we aren't able to use the Friday Freebie tab in the Shop but hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

SheepSki Designs Facebook Group Challenge

It is no secret if you have read my blog, that I love cats.  For the Facebook Group Challenge inspiration, I started with Cat Nap and decided I would have a go at replicating my Emmie's colourings.  I used my pencils.  I then decided to put the image on a memorydex card so I could keep it in my stash.  I found the perfect quote and placed my hearts cut from designer paper above the cat either side, took a photo and was about to do this blog post and realised the theme for the Facebook challenge was Use an embellishment.

So I changed it up a bit - moved the hearts down and then I thought to myself exactly what is an embellishment.  I came to the conclusion it can be anything I want it to be.  I knew I had in my craft junk room some flairs I hadn't got out lately, so off I went into the depths of my room.  As I picked up the container of flairs, I found an Australian stamp from quite a few years' ago.  I know that, because our letter stamps are $1.10 now, not 70c.  I kept it because I LOVE CATS!  I knew I had a set of steampunk cat flairs, so I picked the closest colouring to Emmie and my previous cat Dusty and attached the stamp and the flair, and now I get to keep the two embellishments that I love in my stash of memorydex cards.  Winner, winner, chicken dinner plus I have some inspiration for the SheepSki Designs Digital Stamps Facebook Group Challenge 58.

Here is a photo of my Emmie I took tonight.

I think I will need to work some more on perfecting her fur and besides my memorydex image is not really Emmie because the image has a long tail and Emmie was born with a stumpy tail, so that is a good enough reason to say they aren't the same cat!

See you soon catlovers.

Bizzy Bec's March inspiration

Here is my inspiration using another one of Bizzy Bec's digital stamps, Unicorn - Paisley and I have also added the purple Tropic digital paper from the Tropic Floral range. This is a birthday card for my youngest grand-daughter.  Hope Isla-May likes it!  I often heard my late son-in-law ask Isla-May if she farted when it was actually him. Of course, she would say "no Dad" and start giggling saying "it was you Dad" . The things Dads say to their daughters, but that was Luke, always joking with the kids.  How we miss you - can't believe it is nearly three months.  Isla-May's birthday was the first birthday to get through without you.

Beccy's Place March 2021 Blog Challenge

I love Gerberas - don't seem to have much luck growing them as well as Beccy's images, but love colouring them.

I am still practising with my basic pencils, Staedtler, Faber-Castell and Crayola.  I just have them all together and grab whatever colours I think will suit.

I am not sure what this fold of card is actually called.  It is probably too simple for Beccy to have in her tutorials of card folds, but I would call it concertina.  Hang on, I will get you the link for her card fold tutorials and see if my design is there.  Here is the link Beccy's Place: A - Z of Folded Cards and after looking at her Concertina Fold, I stand to be corrected.  My fold is called the very, very simple concertina fold.

Anyhow I could not decide what sentiments I would use from the set, so I put a few on.  This stamp set is so versatile you could make an any occasion card.

If you like gerberas as much as me, you had better grab this set fast, as it's on special for a limited time and then I think it is going to be retired.  While you are in the shop, check out all the sale items.

I hope you like my very, very simple Concertina card.

See you next time,

Gail

Friday Freebie

Today's Bugaboo Stamps Friday Freebie is Girl in Car.  I thought I would design a 21st card for this image.

I used a square pearl white base, peacock card mat, designer paper, tyre tread washi tape and a chipboard film strip painted with a black Posca pen and mounted it over the image with foam tape.  And of course, the punches for the sentiment which took me a while to find.  Why is my craft stash so unorganised?  Probably because I am unorganised, too much going on in my head, scrambled I am like an egg!

See you again soon,

Gail

Bizzy Bec's March 2021 challenge

Hello fellow crafters,

Got some great news to share with you.  I am now a Design Team Member for Bizzy Bec's Online Store, an Aussie retailer I have dealt with over many years of papercrafting.  Today I want to show you some inspiration for our Monthly Blog Challenge, always "Anything Goes".

I have had a passion for digital stamps for a long time now, so I thought I would start off with this Bizzy Bec's digital stamp from my stash and guess what!.  It is still available in the older images section of digital stamps.  Her name is Cogwheel Wendy and she is part of the Pin Up Girls collection and they are all fun.

Bizzy Bec's has a great range of digital stamps and papers and they are so reasonable in price.  Cogwheel Wendy is only $2AUD, what a bargain.

I have used cream cardstock for the card base and made up a digital background of some of my many files.  Cogwheel Wendy has been centred on the paper with foam tape and I created the sentiments on the page before I printed the background.

I hope you like this digital stamp and will investigate the digital products available in Bizzy Bec's Online Store.  Bizzy Bec's also has a few free digital stamps if you want to give them a go too.  Please read the guidelines for digital products in the Store.

See you later in the month for more Bizzy Bec's inspiration.
