For Day 1 I am going to show you 2 cards I made, one for my daughter's partner who lost his dad recently. The other card is for a lovely lady who was a supplier in Australia for Unity Stamps. I bought some from her and then when my passion for Unity increased, I started looking on the internet and found I could order direct. Anyhow I still bought heaps of my stash from her to the point where she told me one day, Gail, stop spending so much money with me and use what you have - grab a basket and go shopping in your own craft shop. I always remember that and thanks to her, I do that now. Sometimes you just have to pull in the reins and say to yourself, you can't afford to keep spending like you do. I found this out when I left work through health issues and more so this year as my husband and I finalise our business to enter a new phase in our life - RETIREMENT.
Anyhow, off the track there, as I was saying about the destination of the cards. My lovely shop owner and Facebook friend lost her husband recently and the other card is going her way.
I used the digital stamp, "Plant Hope" still available in the Unity Shop as I write this post. I do remember when the digital stamps first hit the Shop, they were labelled Limited Edition, so only Unity Stamps knows how long they will be available.
I made both cards the same except for my colouring. Here is the first - I chose pastel colours in Copics. I must have used just about every 0000, 000 and 00 in every Copic Combo I had. To the light blue card base, I added another sheet of white before placing the image on the background. I have used one of the sentiments that comes with the digital stamp.
With my next card, I used Copic shades of red and red/violet. I know both cards are similar but I just wanted to see the flowers coloured using all colours and then just similar shades. Which one do you prefer?
I hope you have enjoyed my inspiration for "Plant Hope" and I will see you tomorrow and don't forget to comment on my blog for a chance to win a pack of random grab bags full of Unity Stamps - there might even be 2 up for grabs!
Gail
I love your cards! I prefer the second card with the bolder colors but I also like the pastels as well. I need to go shopping in my stash much more often than I do...thank you for reminding me that I can do that! Looking forward to your GIU week.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bamabell. It is amazing what you can find in your stash that you forgot you had. Good organisation of your craft room is a must but unfortunately I don't have that lol!
DeleteGorgeous! Have a great week, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo, I hope it will be good.
DeleteThose are some absolutely lovely cards.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week too.
DeleteLovely cards. Thanks for sharing the sweet blog post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, to be honest I dread blogging. It's the worst part of being a crafter lol.
DeleteI love your coloring, and have to admit (since you asked) the second card is my favorite. And yes, we should all shop in our stash instead of adding to it. I too love Unity Stamps.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, I am glad you have a favourite.
DeletePretty cards. That stamp is so versatile & never fails to wow
ReplyDeleteYes Suze it is a beautiful stamps, but then again all Unity stamps are beautiful. That is why we can't resist them.
DeleteBeautiful cards... your coloring is lovely!I'm looking forward to your GIU week. (PS... you're going to love retirement! 😊)
ReplyDeleteThank you Wilma, I hope so too, but my husband has a few health issues to sort out first.
DeleteThe cards are lovely! I need to listen to your advice about shopping my stash since I just retired.
ReplyDeleteLinda Abel
Thank you Linda, There is too much craft stuff out there, but I am finding I need to cut back and use what I have. There will always be a Unity stamp to buy though lol.
DeleteBeautiful cards!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are lovely! I have high hopes of using some more of what I have, but then Unity has a sale and/or new releases and that goes away!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Linda, it is very hard when the Unity sales are so good and you love every single stamp they bring out.
DeleteI love seeing something done 2 ways- the different colours change up the look so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you Romaine
DeleteI've got quite the stash as well! I wish they'd all stop coming up with new things. Maybe then I'll stop buying, too. LOL I know I've got lots of stamps that haven't even been inked up. Sad. Very sad. Love both your cards equally and looking forward to your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Becca, I am with you on the lots and not being inked up yet.
DeleteBeautiful! I have more Unity than any other brand! I’m shocked a store owner discouraged her own sales!! Lol! I’m sure the digital element was exciting for you especially having the ability to receive them instantly. Australia is a long postal journey requiring a level of patience I don’t embody. LOL!
ReplyDeleteShe is a lovely lady, who just didn't want me buying and not using, so I did cut back a bit, but it was hard.
DeleteLove the two versions of your design, it shows the versatility
ReplyDeleteThanks Glennis
DeleteI'm leaning more toward the pastel card but both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathy
